Projekt: Robe a l’anglaise

Vor ca. einem Jahr hatte ich angefangen eine Robe a l’anglaise zu nähen. Wichtigstes Hilfsmittel die Overlock und die Nähmaschine also die Verarbeitung der Stoffe ist auf keinen Fall authentisch, irgendwann möchte ich ja dann doch mal fertig werden

(It is pobably one year ago since I started sewing a Robe a l’anglaise. The most important gadget I used was my overlock and my sewing maschine. This means, I don’t try to be fully historical correct, because I am not so fast in hand sewing and I want to finish the whole project at some point in time…  )

Inspiration dazu war dieses Bild, welches mich vollkommen faszinierte.

So sollte das Kleid also aussehen, somit begann die Suche nach Schnitt und Stoff.
Der Schnitt war die leichteste Übung, sofort bei neheleniapattern bestellt incl. der passenden Schnürbrust und Stahl.

(Ok, I knew how the dress should look like, therefore the search of a suitable pattern started. Which wasn’t so difficult because I got everything, steel, pattern for the dress and the pattern for the stays from neheleniapattern.)

Der Stoff sollte sich als ziemlich schwierig herausstellen, es gibt einfach keinen Taft in diesen Farben… unglaublich, zumindest habe ich keinen gesehen. Also habe ich einen eher petrolfarbenen (mit schwarzen Schimmer, lässt sich schwer beschreiben) im Karstadt für sage und schreibe 4 €/Meter gefunden und sofort zugeschlagen Dazu noch einen eher cremefarbenen bis champagnerfarbenen  Taft als Überrock. Der ist aber, denke ich, nicht ganz so passend, da werde ich mich nochmal umschauen. UPDATE:  Ich hab schon einen gesehen, einen helleren mehr champagnerfarbenen. Den besorg ich dann, wenn ich wieder da bin.

(The fabric was a bit more difficult, because I wanted to find something smilar to the fabric on the picture. But it wasn’t possible to find a striped tafetta in these colours. Therefore, I bought a dark blue tafetta with a black shimmer for 4 €/meter, which isn’t to bad   I have a more creme or brown tafetta for the skirt, which is maybe not so suitable, but I already saw another one, which I will buy when I am back home.)

Was hat sich also bis heute getan? Die Unterwäsche. Ich habe mich dazu entschlossen einen Unterrock, aus Batist, zu machen, somit konnte ich zum einen gleich den Schnitt ausprobieren und zum anderen habe ich die Hoffnung, dass das Gesamtwerk dadurch mehr Volumen erhält.

(So, what’s done until now? The undergarments. I decided to make an underskirt from batiste, to try the pattern and give the whole skirt more volume.)


Das was hier so beult sollten einmal die Taschen werden, laut Schnitt. Da ich aber noch einen Überrock machen möchte habe ich keine dran genäht und das einfach offen gelassen, dass werde ich dann beim Überrock natürlich ändern. Ansonsten sieht man auf dem Bild noch die Schnürbrust. Welche mit Stahl verstärkt ist und mit Satinband eingefasst ist. Dieses habe ich von Hand aufgenäht. Naja, hier hatte ich nicht so genau auf die Musterführung geachtet. Die nächste wird bestimmt besser Achja, ich weiß das die Schnürbrust nicht unbedingt über dem Rock sein sollte, aber da hatte ich grad keine Lust das zu ändern…

(You can see the bulge in the skirt, these should bet he pockets (according to the pattern) But obviously  I don’t need pockets in an underskirt, because I want to do an overskirt as well. Furthermore, you can see my first stays I have ever made on this picture . These stays are strengthended with steel and enclosed with satin ribbon, which was attached by hand sewing. Yes, and I know that the stays have to be under the skirt, but I was to lazy to change this next time you get better pictures. )


Auf dem Bild kommt das Pokissen deutlicher zum Vorschein und wer genau hinschaut, sieht auch, dass ich die Schnürung nicht korrekt gemacht habe, sondern wie beim normalen Korsett, das ging erst mal schneller Außerdem habe ich Stahlösen verwendet, was auch nicht unbedingt für eine authentische Verarbeitung spricht.

(On this picture you can see the “butt pillow” (I have to look this word up) But you can also see that the cording isn’t historically correct, because I have made it like the normal corset, which was at this moment faster for me.  I also used eyelets made of steel for this stays, which is also not authentic.)

Tja und seit einer Weile dümpelt das gesamte Projekt vor sich hin. Es fehlt auch noch die Chemise, der Überrock und natürlich das Kleid incl. Stecker.

(Well, and since then nothing happend. The missing parts are the chemise, the overskirt, the dress itself.)

Noch viel zu tun. ich sollte langsam mal weiter machen
